Electrical Career Prep Program
This program has been created to familiarize potential new apprentices with the Electrical Trade. Participants will engage with PowerPoint presentations, receive guidance from experienced electricians, have the opportunity to visually recognize and identify various electrical components, gain a tactile understanding by interacting with electrical materials and parts, and participate in practical exercises involving fundamental hand and power tools.
Topics covered in the program are:
- Intro and orientation to your Electrical Career Tool Safety
- Hand Tool identification and usage
- Basic Electrical Safety
- Boxes and Enclosures identification and installation Lift awareness and Fall Protection
- Device identification and installation
- Fittings and Conduit identification
- Fasteners and Supports identification Safety: PPE, Life Safety and First Aid Ladders
- Power Tools identification and usage Wire prep
- Measuring tools
- Intro to pipe bending Basic math for electricians
Eligibility & Application
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Students 16 and 17 years old will be required to have a waiver from a parent or legal guardian Able to attend classes 1 night per week for approximately 20 weeks
- Reliable transportation to get to and from class
